Europlanet is a network linking planetary scientists from across Europe. The aim of Europlanet is to promote collaboration and communication between partner institutions and to support missions to explore our Solar System.

This website gives details of planetology activites in each country, background information on planetary science and updates on current missions and techniques to study the Solar System.

Europlanet awarded FP7 Funding
The Europlanet Research Infrastructure has been awarded funding under FP7 of the European Commission. In addition to the networking activities initiated under FP6, Europlanet will now undertake trans-national and joint research activities.

ESA's Herschel spacecraft has been launched successfully. Herschel will study the atmospheres of gas-giant planets and comets.
